Insgesamt wurden acht Sammlungen von Mendelssohns "Lieder ohne Worte" für Klavier veröffentlicht. Ihrem Charakter gemäss waren sie zuerst im häuslichen Musizieren beheimatet. Zusehends fanden sie dann aber auch Aufnahme im Konzertsaal.
Daraus wählte Claude Rippas fünf Lieder aus, welche für Trompete (Flügelhorn/Kornett) und Orgel sehr gut geeignet sind.
